Female Cyclist Dies After Being Hit By GO Train

A female cyclist was killed after being struck by a GO train near Finch and Kennedy Tuesday night just after 7pm.

The woman, who was 54-years-old, was apparently riding on the sidewalk when she was somehow struck.

“The cyclist was cycling westbound on Finch Avenue, at the time the crossing arms were activated,” reveals PC Krystian Sytradza.  “At that time she was struck by a northbound train.  She was pronounced at the scene.”

Her identity has not been released and an investigation is ongoing.  Finch was closed between Kennedy and Midland for about three hours, but has since reopened.

Another person was killed on Saturday after being struck by a train on its way to Union Station.
