October inflation rates: Canadian cities

OTTAWA – Canada’s national annual inflation rate was 2.4 per cent in October, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.

The agency also released rates for major cities, but cautioned that figures may fluctuate widely because they are based on small statistical samples (previous month in brackets):

  • St. John’s, N.L. – 2.9 (2.3)
  • Charlottetown-Summerside – 2.3 (0.9)
  • Halifax, N.S. – 2.8 – (1.7)
  • Saint John, N.B. – 1.8 (1.7)
  • Montreal – 1.4 (0.9)
  • Ottawa – 3.3 (3.0)
  • Toronto – 3.2 (3.2)
  • Thunder Bay, Ont. – 3.4 (2.7)
  • Winnipeg, Man. – 1.2  (0.5)
  • Regina, Sask. – 2.2 (1.4)
  • Saskatoon, Sask – 1.9 (1.1)
  • Edmonton, Atla. – 1.2 (0.9)
  • Calgary, Atla. – 0.8 (0.8)
  • Vancouver, B.C. – 3.0  (1.9)
