No link between unsolved Varaschin murder and another attack, police say

Provincial police said there’s no reason to link an attack on an Orangeville, Ont., area woman with the unsolved murder of Sonia Varaschin.

The 44-year-old woman is in critical but stable condition at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre after being attacked in her home on Tuesday.

The victim’s home is located in Mono, a 20-minute drive from Varaschin’s house.

Varaschin, 42, was reported missing in August and her body was found in a wooded area a few days later.

Police said both cases are under investigation, but there’s no immediate reason to link them.
