Toronto’s first ice skating trail opens Saturday

TORONTO, Ont. – Ward 6 Councillor Mark Grimes will be on hand for the grand opening of Toronto’s first ice skating trail at Colonel Sam Smith Park.
The trail is a unique outdoor rink which extends in a figure-eight shape throughout the park, and covers 250 metres. It is marked by its refrigerated ice surface, open area for beginners learning to skate, lighting and sound system.
The opening ceremony will include remarks from Grimes, and will be followed by a tree lighting and a skating party.
The ceremony starts at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The park is located at 65 Colonel Sam Smith Park Drive, in the Lake Shore and Kipling area.
Parents are informed that all children in attendance under the age of six are required to wear CSA approved hockey helmets while on the ice.
