The OPP have confirmed that two men have died in a crash on the QEW.
The collision happened in the Toronto-bound lanes near Bronte Road just after 6am. Police temporarily shut down several lanes in the area as they investigated, but they have since been re-opened.
A single car went off the ramp, trapping both the driver and a passenger inside. It appears the driver was heading east when he lost control, exiting the road and slamming into a pole.
“It doesn’t seem that the road conditions were a factor here in this collision. For unknown reasons, they left the roadway and went into the ditch,” OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said.
One of the victims has been identified as 31-year-old Scott Ineson of Burlington.
“I’ve known Scott since he was a little baby. It’s devastating, just devastating,” said his neighbour Val Middleton.
Ineson lived in his childhood home with his wife. The two were trying to start a family.
“He was just like his dad actually…(He had) a belly laugh. If you heard him laugh, you had to laugh…and a nice looking man,” said Middleton.
The second victim, a 30-year-old man also from Burlington, hasn’t been identified.
