Boy slips into Rideau River, dies on scene

OTTAWA, On. – A nine-year-old boy died after slipping into the icy waters of the Rideau River.
The boy had no vital signs when Ottawa firefighters pulled him from the water, Tuesday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services said two boys were playing near the water when one of them slipped and fell in.
21 firefighters along with police and paramedics rushed to the scene just after 2 p.m.
Firefighters pulled the boy from the river after he drifted nearly 800 metres downstream to Strathcona Park.
