Honda recalling 442 Pilot SUVs in Canada over possible front suspension failure

WASHINGTON _ Honda Motor Co. is recalling 10,800 Accord sedans and Pilot sport utility vehicles in the United States and a few hundred Pilots in Canada to prevent possible front suspension failure.

The Japanese automaker says the recall covers late model year 2010-2011 Accord sedans and 2011 Pilot SUVs in the United States.

Honda Canada said it will recall about 442 of the 2011 Pilots in Canada but no Accords.

Owners of Pilots will be notified to bring their vehicle to a Honda dealer for inspection.

After inspection of the Pilot, the dealer will replace the spindle nuts and if necessary the front damper attachment bracket bolts.

Notification to customers will start in late-December 2010.

Although the recall affects certain late model 2010 to 2011 Accords in the U.S., no Accords are affected in Canada, the company said.

The company says a flaw in the software for the equipment used in the assembly process was discovered at its plant in Alabama.
