‘Canada shone in 2010,’ Harper says

The Prime Minister said there’s plenty to celebrate, as 2010 comes to a close.

Stephen Harper is using his annual holiday message to boast about canada’s achievements, particularly on the world stage.

“It was a year during which Canada shone,” Harper said. “Whether bringing relief to a devastated Haiti or in Afghanistan’s high and dusty plains, we did ourselves proud.”

He also mentioned Canada’s performance at the Olympics as well as the queen’s visit and the G8 and G20 summits.

Looking ahead to 2011, Harper promised to continue building the economy, and took note of the upcoming end to Canada’s combat role in Afghanistan.
