Happy New Year, Toronto!
Perhaps you rang in the new year in a log cabin up north, sipping hot cocoa while wearing a hand-knit ski sweater. Or maybe you ventured into an Entertainment District club and toasted with overpriced champagne.
Judging by the crowd, though, a good many of you turned out for the live music and fireworks at Citytv’s New Year’s Eve Bash at Nathan Phillips Square. Familiar faces Gord Martineau, Dina Pugliese, Kevin Frankish and Tracy Moore hosted the party and led the countdown to 2011.
Yes, it’s just another night. But there’s something about the end of the year that – once the hangover has worn off – prompts soul-searching and vows of self-improvement.
It could be the knowledge that although we might have mucked up the past 12 months, we now have a chance to turn the page.
So, if you’re the type to make resolutions, good luck with them.
