Man Arrested Following Police Chase

A man is in custody following an early morning police chase.

The York Regional Police armed robbery squad began investigating an alleged gas station robbery around 12:30am on January 31. It happened at the Esso at Leslie Street and Elgin Mills Road.

The suspect allegedly fled in a Kia with a quantity of cash, but he abandoned his car a short time later.

Officers arrested the man in an apartment on Finch Avenue near Bathurst Street around 1am.

Toronto Police, York Police dogs and the York Regional helicopter were all involved in the pursuit.

Guy Belyea, 44, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Theft
  • Use Imitation Firearm

Belyea also allegedly stole a car on Tall Grass Trail on January 28 and robbed a 7-11 on Rutherford Road on January 29.
