IKEA Canada issued a crib recall Thursday because of the potential risk of the mattress support detaching from the frame.
The company says the four bolts used to secure the mattress on its Sniglar crib aren’t long enough and the mattress can collapse, creating a risk of child entrapment or suffocation.
IKEA recommends anyone who owns this crib to stop using it immediately and inspect it.
“If the mattress support bolts extend through the nut, the bolts are the proper length and the crib is not included in the repair action. If the bolt does not extend through the nut, the crib is included in the recall for repair,” the company said in a statement.
No injuries have been reported.
The Sniglar non-drop side cribs with the model number 60091931 were sold at IKEA outlets across Canada between October 2005 and June 2010 for $89.95. Six-thousand of the cribs were sold in Canada.
Customers can contact IKEA at (800) 661-9807 or online here for a free repair kit or return the crib for a full refund.
