Pettis and Guida face off in TUF finale

LAS VEGAS — Former WEC lightweight champion Anthony (Showtime) Pettis will take on Clay (The Carpenter) Guida on June 4 in the live finale to Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

The mixed martial arts card at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas will also feature Season 12 winner Jonathan Brookins (13-3) against Jeremy Stephens (19-6), and bantamweight Renan Barao (22-1 with one no contest) against Demetrious Johnson (13-1).

Pettis (11-1) was slated to meet lightweight champion Frankie Edgar after defeating Ben Henderson for the World Extreme Cagefighting title in December. But that matchup was shelved after Edgar and Gray Maynard fought to a draw in January, prompting a rematch in May.

Clay Guida (28-8) has won three straight.

“Pettis comes in to the UFC with a lot of hype,” UFC president Dana White said in a statement Monday. “He was the last WEC lightweight champion and became a superstar after landing that incredible kick off the cage against Ben Henderson. But this is the toughest fight of his career. Clay Guida is a gritty, in-your-face fighter who has put together a really impressive winning streak.”
