PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — New York Mets pitcher Jason Isringhausen has resumed throwing after being sidelined three days with inflammation in his right elbow.
The 38-year-old reliever took anti-inflammatory medication and plans to throw a bullpen session Wednesday. He’s expected to return to the mound by the end of the week if the elbow responds well after Tuesday’s workout.
Isringhausen hasn’t appeared in a game since Friday. He played catch, did light fielding and threw some curveballs.
Isringhausen has had three Tommy John elbow surgeries throughout his 14-year career. Isringhausen said he needs to resume ultrasounds to keep his elbow loose.
So far this spring, Isringhausen has gone 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA. He’s had three strikeouts in six innings, allowing two hits and three walks.
