Holland wins 4th straight at curling worlds

ESBJERG, Denmark — Regina’s Amber Holland scored three in the ninth end to earn a 7-4 victory over Switzerland’s Mirjam Ott in the 13th draw Wednesday at the Capital One world women’s curling championship.
The three broke a 4-4 tie after Switzerland had scored one on the eighth to force the deadlock.
The win was Holland’s fourth straight at the tournament and improved Canada’s record to 5-3.
Holland is tied for third in the standings with China and Denmark while Switzerland dropped to 5-4.
In other action, Korea defeated Scotland 9-3 in eight ends, China dispatched the United States 14-5 in eight ends and Russia beat the Czech Republic 12-3 in seven ends.
In the 12th draw, Sweden edged Switzerland 9-8, Russia got past Germany 5-3, Denmark dispatched Korea 7-4 and the U.S. defeated Norway 6-5.
Holland doesn’t have much time to savour the win as she’ll face front-running Anette Norberg of Sweden (7-1) later Wednesday.
