Axe-wielding woman arrested in Whitby

An axe-wielding woman was arrested in Whitby on Wednesday, Durham Regional Police said.
Officers had to Taser the 24-year-old suspect before she could be apprehended.
Police say the woman was trying to enter homes in the Garden Street and Dryden Boulevard area around 12:30 a.m. Officers allege she didn’t obey when police told her to drop the axe, and they Tasered her.
The suspect was then taken to hospital for a physical and mental assessment.
No injuries were reported, but one home-owner saw his window smashed.
No criminal charges have been laid.
