Police release name of ski instructor killed after hitting tree

A ski instructor died after slamming into a tree on the last day of the skiing season at Mount St. Louis Moonstone Sunday afternoon.

Peter Barrick, 65, of Oro Medonte Township, lost control on an intermediate hill.  Police say he was wearing a helmet at the time, but suffered fatal chest trauma after hitting the tree.

He had no vital signs when paramedics arrived via air ambulance.

Emergency crews were going to airlift him to Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital, but his injuries were too severe.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
