Victim identified in Brampton mall stabbing

Peel police have identified a 15-year-old killed in a stabbing at a Brampton mall early Saturday evening.

Around 5 p.m., police got a call about the attack and arrived at the Bramalea City Centre parking lot, near Queen Street East and Dixie Road, to find Klayton Wynter critically injured.

Paramedics took Wynter to Brampton Civic Hospital, but he died soon after.

“It was a very busy area for this kind of incident to happen in,” said Const. George Tudos. “I can just imagine the witnesses – how horrific it must have been to see some sort of incident like this take place in front of them.”

Though there are reports the knifing happened when a fight between two groups of youths inside the mall spilled outside, detectives say it does not appear to be gang-related.

Officers arrested a number of males, but have not yet released any details about suspects.

They are asking witnesses to call them at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205 or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
