Luongo to get the nod for Game 7

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault confirmed Monday Roberto Luongo will get the start in goal for Game 7 on Tuesday night.

Despite starting back-up goalie Cory Schneider in Game 6, Vigneault will go with Luongo, which he claims was the plan all along.

The Canucks skipper said he planned to start Schneider for Game 6 and depending on whether or not there would be a seventh game, Luongo would start either Game 7 or Game 1 of the second round.

After Game 5 on Thursday, Vigneault said Luongo would start Game 6, but moments before game time on Sunday he decided to go with the youngster Schneider.

When asked if he was lying about the goaltending decision for Tuesday night, Vigneault replied, “Does this look like the face of a kidder?”

Luongo was called in to finish Game 6 after Cory Schneider left the game early in the third period with cramps.
