Witness claims she saw robbers put on masks moments before attempted Markham Rd. robbery

A witness claims she saw two men put on black balaclavas moments before a failed bank robbery on Markham Road.

The suspects, she says, donned their masks just outside the Royal Bank at Markham Road and Painted Post Drive on Monday afternoon. The witness called police as the pair — carrying what appeared to be semi-automatic weapons — entered the bank.

The suspects, stymied by a time-release safe, fled empty-handed.

Police are still searching for the two men and are looking at video surveillance from the bank. 

No one was injured.
