Windsor man sentenced to 17 months for torching police cruiser during G20

An unemployed Windsor man who was high on cocaine and depressed when he tossed a burning newspaper into a police cruiser during Toronto’s G20 Summit has been sentenced to 17 months in jail.
Nicodemo Catenacci, 41, pleaded guilty to setting the cruiser on fire at the corner of Queen St. West and Spadina Avenue on June 26, 2010.
During the trial the court learned that Catenacci, who lives with his parents, was despondent after losing his job as a carpenter. It was also revealed that he wasn’t part of any group of protesters.
The judge also ordered him to serve three years of probation upon release from jail and to begin weekly payments of $200 to begin paying for the cruiser, which was valued at over $30,000.
