Lockdown ends after shooting at Wexford Collegiate in Scarborough

A lockdown has ended after a shooting outside Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough.

No one was injured and police are still searching for a suspect, or suspects. The lockdown started around 1 p.m. Monday and lasted for about 40 minutes.

Officers searched the area near 1176 Pharmacy Ave. but did not find any shell casings.

“We don’t know who they were targeting. There were some young people outside at the time, but we’re not sure if they’re students at this school,” Sgt. Peter Karagan told reporters outside Wexford Collegiate.

“School was in session so from what I understand, it wasn’t very busy outside,” Karagan added.

Police are looking at security video from the school as part of their investigation.
