The Toronto Maple Leafs have picked up defenceman John-Michael Liles from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a second round pick, 39th overall, in Friday night’s NHL entry draft.
The 31-year-old had six goals and 40 assists with the Avalanche last season, leading the team in assists and blocked shots.
He’s led all Avalanche blueliners in scoring for five consecutive years.
Liles has one year remaining on his current contract. He’ll be paid $4.2 million this up-coming season, after which he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.
