The crash happened at the intersection of Brock and Taunton roads just after 11:30 a.m.

The accident happened the same day Durham Regional Police issued a statement stressing the importance of safety after a rash of motorcycle crashes in the area.

There have been nine serious crashes involving motorbikes in Durham Region since June 30.

“The vast majority of motorcyclists are excellent drivers, act responsibly and give themselves plenty of room out there. Unfortunately, not everyone is getting the message,” Sgt. Shaun Arnott of Durham Police Traffic Services said.

A motorcycle crash claimed the life of 30-year-old Toronto Police officer Ricardo Torchia on Tuesday in Vaughan. The constable was off-duty at the time. His funeral will be held Friday.
