3 critically hurt in Burlington Skyway crash

Five people were injured, three critically, in a two-car crash in Burlington late Friday evening.

Around 10:30 p.m., a Jeep and a Honda Civic collided in the southbound lanes of the QEW on the Burlington Skyway.

The three passengers in the Civic were critically injured and had to be freed by firefighters. They were taken to Hamilton General Hospital along with the driver, a 46-year-old St. Catharines man who is expected to survive.

The driver of the Jeep, a 37-year-old Hamilton woman, was taken to Joseph Brant Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The area was closed to traffic until about 2:30 a.m.

The Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate.
