A second man has been charged with threatening to kill Mayor Rob Ford, CityNews has learned.
Robert Dunlop, 46, allegedly made the threats over Facebook and Twitter. He made a brief court appearance on Monday, and will be back before a judge next week.
“There have been threats made against the mayor,” Ford press secretary Adrienne Batra told CityNews in an email.
“Toronto Police and Corporate Security are dealing with the threats in an appropriate manner.”
Batra also said Ford’s security is being reviewed and could be adjusted.
In a separate incident, Toronto police charged Anthony Vella, 56, with one count of threatening death on July 14.
Vella allegedly threatened Ford during a recorded call to 311.
The mayor acknowledged he’d received a telephone death threat at a news conference late last month, but said he wasn’t concerned.
“I don’t take it that seriously,” he said, noting a police investigation was underway.
Vella appeared in court on July 15 and was released on $500 bail. He will next appear in court on Aug. 18.
