Pronger makes his return

Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Chris Pronger will return to the ice on Wednesday night in Tampa Bay as the Flyers face the Lightning.

The 37-year-old captain, who missed the last six games after taking a stick to the eye against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 24, will be wearing a visor in Wednesday night’s game.

“(My conditioning) has been a little suspect after the last couple days,” Pronger told the league’s official website Tuesday before the team left for Florida. “Again, you don’t realize how quickly you can lose it when you’ve done nothing for seven days, you’re bedridden for four of them — the joints need to be moving.”

While the Flyers (8-4-2) have killed all 13 penalties during their 3-0-1 stretch, they could use Pronger on the power play after going 1 for 19 in the last four games.

Philadelphia, 1 for 15 on the power play while losing three of four to Tampa Bay last season, opens its three-game trip with a 4-1-0 road record.
