Occupy movement: A timeline

The Occupy movement, which began two months ago in New York City, is slowly coming to an end around the globe.
As cities and police evict protesters from public parks, demonstrators vow that the fight against economic equality isn’t over.
Here’s a timelime looking at “Occupy” over the past two months:
Sept. 17: The Occupy Wall Street movement, inspired by a campaign from Vancouver-based magazine Adbusters, begins in Manhattan as demonstrators camp out at Zuccotti Park.
Oct. 15: The Occupy movement returns to Canada, with demonstrators setting up in Toronto, Calgary, Halifax, Kingston, Montreal, Ottawa, Regina, Vancouver and Victoria.
Global Day of Action also takes over 951 cities in 82 different countries, supporting the Occupy movement as well as Arab Spring.
Oct. 17: About 30 members of Occupy Bay Street, an Occupy Toronto splinter group, rally at Exchange Tower.
Nov. 3: Police in Oakland fire tear gas, pepper spray, on Occupy protesters.
Nov. 5: Woman found dead at Occupy Vancouver.
Nov. 11: Police arrest 14 people at Occupy Nova Scotia; Halifax camp dismantled.
Nov. 14: Last remaining protesters leave Occupy Saskatoon camp.
Nov. 15: City of Toronto issues eviction notice in the morning. Eviction is stayed a few hours later as protesters ask for injunction. New York police began to evict Occupy Wall Street protesters from Zuccotti Park.
Nov. 16: Police dismantle Occupy Regina site.
Nov. 18: Campus police at the University of California pepper spray peaceful demonstrators. The video later surfaces online. The officers involved in spraying the students were placed on paid administrative leave.
Nov. 19: Occupy Victoria protesters begin to leave Centennial Square.
Nov. 21: Judge rules City of Toronto eviction notice is valid, and protesters must leave St. James Park.
Nov. 22: Judge orders Occupy Vancouver demonstrators to leave Robson Square; protesters began to remove their tents. Police, city workers, dismantle Occupy Quebec City.
Nov. 23: Police in Ottawa and Toronto begin to evict protesters, resulting in multiple arrests. Demonstrators in Calgary receive eviction notices, but say they are staying put in Olympic Plaza.
