Fire response time in Toronto slower than average

It takes Toronto police 30 seconds to pass on a 9-1-1 call to fire services which is double the North American standard.

The Toronto Star has published a new report outlining the slow response time of Toronto Fire Services.

For dispatch to notify the appropriate fire hall about a fire — that takes 100 seconds — the standard is 60 seconds.

Firefighters in toronto take 185 seconds to get dressed and get out the door, while the standard is 80 seconds.

The city’s fire communications chief tells the star – the service has taken 10 seconds off its dispatch time and hopes to do better in the future.
