5 things to do this weekend: The Nutcracker, Christmas flower show & Toronto Animecon

For Families: Get into the Christmas spirit by taking your children to The Nutcracker, a ballet classic about Christmas Eve at the Stahlbaum house. The production by the National Ballet of Canada is choreographed by James Kudelka, and features guest celebrities, including Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and CityNews’ Roger Petersen and Avery Haines as well as others. For visitors: Enjoy the floral displays at the Allan Gardens Conservatory Christmas Flower Shows. Free (donations for the food bank are welcomed).  Dec. 4-Jan. 8, 2012. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Candlelight show hours 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. Dec. 4, 10, 17 and 18. http://wx.toronto.ca/festevents

For Charity: Children can create their own sparkling Swarovski ornament and help grant wishes for other children in need at the Swarovski Stars for Wishes Workshop. For Kicks: It’s all things Anime at Toronto Animecon. Spend the day at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre with your favourite characters, get their autographs and see special guest Sean Schemmel aka Goku-Dragon Ball Kai/Z/GT .
