Canadiens fire head coach Jacques Martin

The Montreal Canadiens fired head coach Jacques Martin on Saturday.
The team tweeted that Randy Cunneyworth has been named interim head coach until the end of the season.
The Canadiens currently sit last in the Northeast Division with a 13-12-7 record, ranking them 11th in the Eastern Conference with 33 points.
Martin became the Canadiens head coach on June 1, 2009. Martin posted a 96-75-25 record during in his tenure with the team.
In 1,294 NHL games with St. Louis, Ottawa, Florida and Montreal, Martin amassed a record of 613-481-119-81.
Cunneyworth had previously served as the head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs, the team’s American Hockey League affiliate.
In one season with the Bulldogs, Cunneyworth led the team to a 44-27-2 record to capture the AHL North Division title.
