The North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD) will have full coverage of Santa’s overnight sleigh ride around the planet Saturday and families can access real-time results in several ways.
Kids can visit the NORAD Santa website here to track the big guy’s journey. This year, families can also keep tabs on Santa’s journey on their cellphones with a new NORAD Tracks Santa app.
Youngsters can also follow St. Nick’s progress on Google Earth, Twitter and Facebook. Families can also email NORAD for updates at noradtrackssanta@gmail.com.
“NORAD tracks Santa, but only Santa knows his route, which means we cannot predict where and when he will arrive at your house,” NORAD says on its Santa website. “We do, however, know from history that it appears he arrives only when children are asleep!”
NORAD is a bi-national military organization responsible for aerospace and maritime defence of Canada and the United States. The agency was created in 1958.
The agency’s predecessor, the Continental Air Defence Command (CONAD), started tracking Santa in 1955.
