The New York Rangers have placed forward Sean Avery on waivers for the second time this season.
Avery began the 2011-12 campaign playing with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League after the Rangers waived him on Oct. 4, just prior to the start of the regular season.
However, after the Rangers began the season struggling, losing six of their first nine games, they recalled the 31-year-old on Oct. 31 from Connecticut.
Of late, the NHL’s notorious bad boy has been a healthy scratch and has not suited up for the Rangers since Dec. 10. In 15 games this season Avery has three goals, no assists, 21 penalty minutes and is plus-2.
