OTTAWA, Ont. – Should Canada sever ties with the monarchy?
It’s a question which will be up for discussion during Liberal party meetings to be held in Ottawa later this month.
Thestar.com reports a resolution calling for an elected Canadian head of state is on the agenda at the Liberal convention.
Cutting ties to the monarchy would oppose the Conservatives’ agenda of boosting the royal image in recent years, and would run counter to a poll last year showing Canadians are largely in favour of historic links to the crown.
