Warm weather across Prairies breaks records

Temperature records are the only thing falling across much of the Prairies so far this winter.
The mercury is well above zero in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary — where people are normally bundled up against the cold or out shovelling snow.
In fact, Calgary reached a temperature of 15.2 C Wednesday, smashing the old record of 12.2 from 1914.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Phillips says the persistent warmth is weird, wild and wacky — and snowfall totals are also down.
That’s disappointing news for people like Chris Brewer, president of the Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association.
Brewer says the club normally has about 10,000 kilometres of trails groomed by this time of year, but now they only have a few hundred ready to go.
