HC@Noon: Getzlaf on the block?

Ryan Getzlaf could be on the move.
After Anaheim’s loss to San Jose on Wednesday night, Ducks GM Bob Murray told Helene Elliot of the Los Angeles Times that Getzlaf, along with Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry could all be moved for the right price.
“The rest of the players in that locker room, I thought they’d figure out when we changed coaches that time was running, the clock was running quickly here. And I don’t care who you talked about,” Murray said.
Murray, whose team currently sits 14th in the Western Conference, told Elliot that veteran forwards Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne are the only untouchables on the Ducks’ roster.
“Bob was pretty straight forward about it,” Elliot told HOCKEY CENTRAL @ Noon on Thursday afternoon. “Part of this is calculated is a way to see if these players have the characters to respond from this. But a lot of it comes from complete frustration and bafflement.”
A fed up Murray told Elliot that he is not interested in a rebuild and will not trade his veteran players for draft picks.
“We’re going to get ready for next year,” Murray explained. “I think this team can be turned around to make the playoffs next year. I think it’s going to be hard to do it this year, but I do want them to make a run. But it’s got to happen quick. Everybody knows that.”
Getzlaf, who is having the worst statistical season of his career, has only six goals and 19 assists this season and has a minus-19 rating.
“It’s no secret that they’re disappointed with Getzlaf this season,” Elliot explained. “A lot of scouts look at Getzlaf and wonder what’s going on with this guy. As a general manager, you have to listen to. I’d be surprised if Perry is moved, but just about everyone else is in play.”
Murray tried to boost his struggling offensive players earlier this season when he hired Bruce Boudreau to replace Randy Carlyle.
But, the coaching change hasn’t quite boosted Getzlaf, who has gone pointless in his last six games.
“Everybody in pro hockey knows we have good core players and explaining why they’re playing the way they are and why we’ve had the year we’ve had so far, it’s just frustrating and unexplainable and it’s not good enough,” Murray said. “It’s unacceptable.”
The Ducks have lost their past three games and sit 29th in the overall standings.
