Man gets 21 days for spitting on TTC supervisor

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 21 days in jail for spitting on a TTC supervisor.
Emmanuel Yihun was also placed on probation for 18 months, banned from the TTC between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and can’t have any alcohol or drugs in his system while on the TTC.
The incident happened just after midnight on Dec. 29 when a TTC supervisor arrived at the Long Branch loop to check on the man, who had passed out on a Queen streetcar.
Yihun was found with a half-full bottle of alcohol and asked to leave the vehicle.
When the supervisor barred him from getting back on, Yihun spat in the supervisor’s face. Yihun was arrested on the scene and charged with assault.
He pleaded guilty at a bail hearing later that day.
The TTC says on average two employees are assaulted every day.
