Chronic boredom an increasing problem for office workers

A growing problem is affecting the physical and mental health of office workers, as well as their job performance.

A British study found chronic boredom affects a quarter of office workers, and many turn to unhealthy habits like snacking on junk food or chugging coffee to pass the time.

The most apathetic are also more likely to drink alcohol at the end of the work day.

Nearly 80 per cent of the bored workers reported a loss in concentration and more than half said it caused them to make mistakes at work.

About half also admitted that boredom might force them to leave their job.
