Female driver crashes after going wrong way on Hwy. 407

A woman in her 30s has been arrested after driving the wrong way on the Highway 407 in Vaughan.

OPP forced the wrong-way vehicle to crash on Pine Valley Drive, to prevent the driver from crashing into another vehicle.

The car had been going eastbound in the westbound lanes at speeds reported of up to 160 kilometres an hour.

Police cruisers had raced to catch up with the vehicle and tried to get the driver to pull over. Eventually, they had to make contact with the vehicle to get it to stop, bumping it into the guardrail.

The female driver was not hurt, but taken to hospital.

Police are trying to determine if she was in medical distress at the time.
