United Way’s plea for extra funds successful

The United Way is a little happier Friday morning, after reporting a total of $2 million in donations over the past week.

The agency reported lower fundraising totals following the Christmas season, a full $3 million short of their $116 million goal.

As a result of a plea for more funds, the deficit has been reduced to $1 million. United Way CEO Susan McIsaac said they are thrilled with how people came through in the home stretch.

Thursday marked the final day for fundraising.
