Report: Jays sign ex-Reds closer Cordero

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their off-season bullpen makeover on Monday, signing free agent Francisco Cordero to a one-year, $4.5 million deal, according to Fox Sport’s Ken Rosenthal.
The 36-year-old Cordero appeared in 68 games with the Cincinnati Reds in 2011, recording 37 saves in 43 opportunities with a 2.45 ERA, 1.019 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.
According to Rosenthal, Cordero will serve as a setup man to closer Sergio Santos in the Blue Jays bullpen.
In 13 big league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati, Cordero has recorded 327 career saves with a 3.17 ERA, 1.333 WHIP while averaging 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings.
So far this off-season, Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos has re-made his bullpen by trading for Santos and Jason Frasor in separate deals with the Chicago White Sox and by signing veteran, free agent left-hander Darren Oliver to a one-year deal.
