Crime Stoppers report: Elder abuse

Officials with Toronto Crime Stoppers are asking the public to take a stand against elder abuse.
Coordinator Darlene Ross says thousands of seniors suffer financial, physical or emotional abuse at the hands of people they know, but it often goes unreported.
“Our elderly people are very vulnerable, and they always fear about reporting something like this for fear that the person that does take care of them, regardless of how good or bad that care is, that it will be completely taken away and then who will they rely on,” Ross said.
Police can help the victim find a place where they can be cared for or help their family find community services available to them.
