At least nine killed in multi-vehicle crash on Florida Interstate-75

Anyone who travels Interstate-75 at this time of year knows that it sometimes feels like you are still in Ontario.
That’s because the north-south highway is a popular route for Canadians heading down south for the winter.
A series of devastating crashes started just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning, leaving the interstate closed, at least nine dead and several others with injuries.
The crashes involved four or five large trucks and at least six cars.
There were reports of heavy smoke and fog in the area at the time.
Dan Larkin, a reporter at WCJB TV news in Gainesville, says he drives the highway daily.
“We do see licence plates from every state in the union, and I have to admit I see, very frequently, licence plates from Ontario,” Larkin said.
There is no word yet on whether any of the victims were Canadian.
