Woman’s body found in laneway in the Junction

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police are investigating after a woman’s body was found wrapped in a rug in a laneway in the Dundas and Runnymede area Wednesday.
The discovery was made around noon by someone walking through a narrow laneway between Quebec Avenue and Clendenan Avenue.
Police say the woman’s body showed obvious signs of trauma.
David, who has lived in the neighbourhood for 55-years, told 680News he was surprised when he walked out of his home this morning and saw the police tape.
“It was really strange. I don’t believe anything has happened like this before. It’s very quiet here. It’s a nice neighbourhood,” he said.
Josh works at a nearby bakery and told 680News police are going door-to-door.
“They’re basically just looking to see if anyone has any digital surveillance or anything like that. Just trying to find out what happened of if anyone has heard or seen anything,” he explained.
Det. Sgt. Peter Trimble told 680News are asking for the public’s help.
“What I am requesting is that if there is anyone in this area, that’s Quebec Avenue and Clendenan Avenue, if they’ve seen anything suspicious – be it cars or people – in the last 24 hours to give the homicide squad a call or call Toronto Police Services.”
