Man charged in fatal Mississauga crash

Peel police have charged a man with dangerous driving causing the deaths of two women in a Mississauga crash last October.

Helena Golebiowska, 69, and Fenia Arendacz, 76, were killed in the Oct. 24, 2011, collision.

A Mazda and a Jeep collided at Hurontario Street and Queensway East at about 3 p.m. Golebiowska and Arendacz were in the backseat of the Mazda, and Golebiowska was ejected from the vehicle.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda, Jan Giemza, 68, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and one count of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Giemza’s wife, 66, was in the passenger seat and is still recovering from critical injuries, police said Tuesday.
The driver of the Jeep was not seriously injured.
