Peel police officer charged with theft

A Peel police officer has been charged with theft and breach of trust after an internal investigation.

Const. Peter Takacs has been a member of the force for four years.

Police said the charges against Takacs stem from a Feb. 9 incident at the Meadowvale Town Centre Community Station. Found property was turned over to police.

Takacs has been suspended from duty and will appear in court on March 21.
