Netanyahu to meet with Harper Friday to discuss Iran

OTTAWA – The federal government has beefed up security on Parliament Hill, Friday, ahead of an official state visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu will be sitting down for a one-on-one with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss a variety of topics including Iran’s nuclear program.
There appears to be much tighter security than when British Prime Minister David Cameron came to give a speech to Parliament.
Netanyahu is expected to arrive in Ottawa before noon ET. He’ll walk up the red carpet to the rotunda and sign the guest book before heading to the PM’s office for a meeting.
Harper and the Israeli PM will sit down for about 45 minutes or so, and Iran will be the main topic.
Netanyahu has made his intentions clear — if Iran doesn’t scrap its nuclear program, then other countries should attack.
While Harper has long been a supporter of Israel, the Prime Minister’s Office told Rogers radio Canada’s stance is not going to change on this matter.
The Harper government wants to see a diplomatic end to this tense situation and it’s believed the sanctions against Iran will put the proper pressure on its regime.
