‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ tops weekend box office

The animated movie version of the Dr. Seuss story “The Lorax” climbed to the top of weekend box office charts with a stronger-than-expected $71 million U.S. in American and Canadian ticket sales, studio estimates released on Sunday showed.
Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax tells the story of a young boy who must discover the story of Lorax in order to win the affection of a girl he likes. Zac Efron and Taylor Swift lend their voices to the project.
Second-place belonged to the film Project X, a new comedy about a group of high school students who throw a party that gets out of hand. The film took in a respectable $21 million at U.S. theaters from Friday through Sunday.
Rounding out the top three was the Act of Valor, a military drama in its second weekend in theaters, with $13.7 million.
