Anthony says he had no problem with D’Antoni

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Carmelo Anthony insists he isn’t selfish, certainly no coach killer.
The Knicks’ star forward says his only problem with Mike D’Antoni was on the court. Anthony adds that he tried to play the way his coach wanted, even though it was uncomfortable and ultimately unsuccessful.
But Anthony still doesn’t know why D’Antoni decided to resign Wednesday. Nor does he understand why the coach felt he couldn’t get the best out of him. Anthony calls such a belief “false.”
The Knicks had their first practice Thursday under interim coach Mike Woodson, who put in new sets that Anthony may prefer. But Anthony says he wasn’t looking for a change and he did everything in his power to “try to communicate with coach Mike.”
