Lind scratched with lower-back injury

Adam Lind continues to deal with back problems.

The Toronto Blue Jays scratched Lind before Tuesday night’s game against the New York Yankees after the first baseman suffered lower-back tightness, according to John Lott of the National Post.

He missed two weeks last season and spent time on the disabled list with a lower-back injury.

Lind isn’t expected to miss a significant amount of time. According to Lott, Lind was held out only for “precautionary reasons.”

The 28-year-old is hitting .306 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 13 games so far this spring. Lind’s hitting drastically improved over the past week as the South Alabama product homered in his past two Grapefruit League contests.

Lind is expected to play first base and hit fourth in the lineup on Opening Day when the Blue Jays take on the Cleveland Indians on April 5.
