The Toronto Maple Leafs called up goalie Ben Scrivens from the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday and sent Jussi Rynnas back to the American Hockey League.
In 36 appearances with the Marlies this season, the 25-year-old has a 20-14-1 record. He also appeared in eight games with the Leafs earlier in the season, going 2-4-1 with a 2.96 GAA and a .904 save percentage.
Scrivens made 36 saves in a Marlies’ 1-0 shootout win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday and last week he stopped 54 of 55 shots in a 2-1 shootout win last Wednesday, also over the Monsters.
Rynnas made his NHL debut Tuesday as he came in for relief of Jonas Gustavsson in the Leafs 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Rynnas was called up when James Reimer went down with an upper-body injury.
The Leafs host the Philadelphia Flyers at the Air Canada Centre on Thursday.
